Technician (Nanoparticle manufacturing)
This person will operate equipment and coordinate processes for electrochemistry-based nanoparticle manufacturing. Principal responsibilities will include: inventory control; operation of fluidic and electrochemical deposition systems; characterization of manufactured nanoparticles using optical and scanning microscopies; operation of thermal vacuum evaporator systems; handling chemicals involved in nanoparticle synthesis; and following all protocols established for safe operation of equipment.
Requirements: Associate degree with relevant experience or BS in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science. Knowledge of Windows NT, Excel, Word, Access. Experience with chemical handling and relevant equipment such as evaporators, microscopes, plating equipment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Instrumentation Scientist/System Engineer
This person will assist in the development and operation of state of the art biotechnology instrumentation. The primary responsibilities will include testing and maintenance of novel detection instrumentation, as well as performing and analyzing experiments for cytometry and nanoparticle measurements.
Requirements: Recent BS in Engineering, Physics or Chemistry plus some working experience in one of the following: fluidics, optics, fluorescence microscopy, software development (LabView, Visual Basic or C).

Optical Engineer
Surromed is seeking an individual who will support prototyping of a novel laser scanning spectroscopy and imaging system. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years experience in optical instrumentation prototyping, including built-up of breadboards, modification and characterization of existing optical and mechanical layouts. Past projects should include work with motion control systems (stepper motor drives), confocal imaging systems, CCD- and PMT-detectors, and data acquisition from spectroscopy instrumentation. Software skills should include SolidWorks, Zemax and LabView. The preferred candidate will have a proven track record in dealing with vendors and external machine shops.
Requirements: BS in optics or mechanical engineering. At least 5 years of optical instrumentation development in R&D setting.

Mechanical Engineer (Consumable devices)
This person will be responsible for design, development and manufacturing of improved disposable cartridges for use in cytometry and immunoassay systems. This will involve CAD design, selection and testing of plastics, and managing outside vendors, contractors, and consultants. The ideal candidate will have experience with bioanalytical devices and instrumentation.
Requirements: BS Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent; 5 years minimum of mechanical design of medical devices or instrumentation. Knowledge of film converting. Experience working with/coordinating outside vendors/consultants. Good communication skills; ability to work in a team environment; strong design skills with CAD; excellent problem solving skills; experience working with science disciplines.
